my 71 GT-37 has the drip rail moldings (they were ordered and on PHS) but no rocker or Wheel opening moldings, also ordered PS but no PB, weird how people selected certain things. Car also had carpet selected.

My GT-37 was the same. Ordered with PS but no PB. It got drip rail moldings because it got a vinyl top, but no rocker or wheelwell moldings. And then they spent the money to get carpet, rally gauges, in-dash tach, auto trans, 8-track player, under-hood and trunk lamp, Cordova top. Weird stuff.

Sounds similar to my car when built new.

Looking at the 70/71 Tempest/T37/Lemans order forms UPC WU2 listed, I don't see the 431 Front Console listed on there??? I found a 72 Lemans order form and it does list the 431. Wow, I can't believe I haven't logged on this site in the last 3 1/2 years!?!??! Life gets in the way sometimes I guess

There was no console option because you couldn't get bucket seats on the T-37.

Love it!

The older I get the more interesting I find these "fringe" cars and the more drawn to them I become.

A Heavy Chevy I think would fall into the same bucket as a T-37 or GT-37 and would have appealed to the same buyer. The fact that so few of these were built just makes them that much more special when you come across one.

I've become a big fan of these T-37, GT-37 and GT cars in last couple years. What size wheels/tires are those? They look REALLY good.

What brand wheels are they? And did you have to paint them to get the colors right? Thanks!

Wheel Vintiques , yes had to repaint centers . The wheels are nice but centers are a bronze/brown color . Took alot of work to remove paint without messing up powder coating . I prefer centers black , sorry purists .

Very possible. Unlike today's computer inventory, and just in time assembly line inventory, I'm sure an occasional extra part was stuck on a car
I remember a local Chevy truck dealer getting a GMC tailgate on a brand new Chev. And outside wrong color mirrors on a car.

Dad ordered a new Buick in 71, arrived with a clock option that wasn't on the window sticker.

Was the sport stripe option in 70 GTO - LeMans available because they just ordered too many Judge stripes in 69 ?

Or maybe the assembly line worker just thought . . . .hell that car needs rocker trim
And the rattle stories that workers sabotaged cars

Sometimes things were left off. Mind did not have the 455HO decals. Also had an 066 cam in it instead of 068. Bad paint/Cody work on left sail panel.

My ‘71 came from factory with roof rail trim but not wheel well or rocker trim.

Yea , this one is a chrome post car with the roof rail trim . I decided to add the other trim because of that . It looks good and wife likes it . Russ had car painted and added the D98 stripes which I am a sucker for . Don't see to many lemans , T37 cars with those stripes . I see they remake the D98 stripe in black and red but I don't think I have ever seen a car with that color .
