How many Blue RA IV's do you see.
Seven 4 speeds and 5 automatics that I know of ,out of the 25 blue RAIVs built

OK,........lets have some fun with this...........

What if we take the Ram Air IV status away from this car........

With a "lowly" garden variety Ram Air III/automatic.......what would it be worth?

40k?

Interesting. The pictures taken from the left side almost look like a different car - no Ram Air IV decal on the shaker, different tires, and even the shade of blue looks different. Could all be explainable by pics taken on a different day/different camera after a few changes to the car.

Guess it doesn't matter - presumably the high bidder saw the car in the flesh, and knew what was on it

Okay so I'm not seeing things I too thought I was looking at a different car in those side pics when I noticed those things. You're right, really doesn't matter, but sure peaked my curiosity.

Are the RAIVs supposed to have the decals on the shaker? Mine didn't. I wonder how many of the blue auto's were on the column?

Rare and desirable is what someone paid for.

As Norwood said if his original owner checked the RA IV option he would be in a 200K plus more car! A Lucerne blue 4 speed sold for 250K recently?

Default RAM AIR 4 & 455H.O.

thanks JUDGE273 for clearing that up for me....yet I would think a 70 RA 4 is comparable to a 72 H.O....should transmissions & air really matter?....I would think more about original mileage, numbers matching......is it more ''survivor'' or totally redone?.....I do not understand how or why colour should matter or even later N.O.S. fender replacement(which on this car did not matter)...I need to learn more about this car and auction.....is this auction legit?...E BAY can be rigged...and I am not knocking RA III cars as they are first year and low back seats and chrome bezels, unique door panels...a 71 or 72 H.O.should be = 70 RAIV....in the photos it looks great, but pics are not real life...it doesnt have air??....my only concern was this auction real??...someone,not me!..needs to auction there car at Mecun? and lets see what happens!!

"a 71 or 72 H.O.should be = 70 RAIV"

you are kidding correct? 71 or 72 HO's being as valuable as a IV?? oh dear... you really are lost if you believe that..then again, guess you own a 72 and are hoping against facts.. 70 RAIV's were low production, 89 total cars or so, high compression engines etc. 71 's are sort of the last gasp, 72 HO engines started messing with pollution control type systems. Changed the intake etc.. 71/72 HO unrestored, but togather is a 20-25k car, fully mack daddy restored 60K on a good day, but that level of resto will cost you 40k-50K just to get to maybe a 60K car. Your 72 HO will never be worth 1/4 of IV's.. And I will say it today, we are near the top of this current ralley in muscle car prices.. looks way too similar to the Mopar run, Camaro run etc.. during all previous runs, 2nd gen TA's never took off and they won't again.. I wish they would, but short of an extremely low production variant, will not happen.

Oh.. and I know of two RAIV's that sold for 385K and 500K, sat in both of these cars, supplied >75% parts on one of them.. but HO's will never be near IV's, 73 SD's may, but not HO's..

70 RAIV TA production = 88
71-72 TA production =~3,400

Performance-wise, not really much of a difference. Rare and desireable is what attracts the $$ and the RAIVs have a reputation that captures that crowd that the 455HO doesn't (because it being low compression), rational or not.

Default RAM AIR IV IS NUMBER 1

so numbers matching white or blue, stick or auto, standard or deluxe, air or not,old fenders or new fenders, survivior or redone is atleast 150 k....got it!!...I am glad that the pressure is off me and I can restore my measly 1972 H.O. the way I want...really a 10 to 20 thousand dollar hit 30 years from now will not matter to me....I can only dream what a RAM AIR V would bring?....a cool million??

Consider inflation ( devaluation of the Dollar) and its all relative. Right now investors are seeking other currencies, so things of know value ( this car) are in demand. Anything but the very rare, or very desirable from a "resale" point of view isnt going get the big $$.
ENJOY your car= VALUE....
Cost to "store" a car in a DRY temp controlled garage is $200/month... ( 30 years) 360 months at $200/month.. $72,000 ...

Default RAM AIR IV

to me,1970 to 1972 Trans Ams all look alike...I would think low compression is a good thing...I was more into options when I decided on my car, mileage & original owner were a score...colour did not matter as it needed a total repaint...I even toyed with the idea of finding a mint 72 white Esprit and doing a rebody...as my car needed paint and quarters...closest I came was a 70 white Esprit I drove for awhile....decided against it(1990) as still a lot of work and too many differences...I feel it has preserved well in a regular garage, however since I am looking at moving a cargo trailer may be a new home...in & out..I will never get crazy because of my initial investment...will be happy the day it gets painted!!!...and still the process of putting it all back toghther....and yet it will never be like a true survivior car with low miles...in 1978 I wanted a Shelby white 1965 with 23k,parents would not loan me the $4500 as it was an old Mustang!...had to be GM and that's how I discovered T/A s....anyway a 70 RAIV is big $ and so should a 70 Buick GS X Stage 1

Default 70 RAIV

I really like the HO cars, have a 71 white, & blue one. & a cali LS 1. All are van nuys built.

I always thought they would take off,. IMO, they are a real bargin compared to a RAIV 70. The 70 , as quoted before, is 1 of only 88...., and the rarity & desirabilty dictates price.... IMO
