Looks real good to me, wish I had the $$ for it. I would leave it as it is and drive it. Just don't understand why these cars are not demanding more money, I supposed there's just way too many people out there with no taste when it comes to muscle cars.

I would say talk to Steve V "has 72 TA in for sale section". His is more correct and repainted for the money, better, IMHO. Unless and I can see in TX ac is a deal breaker.

Yep, AC is deal breaker in Texas. No AC means you cannot use it for large part of the year. I do my own paint so having to paint it is not a big deal for me.

Thanks,
Don

A very good friend of mine just left the guy's place and has reported to me about the car. He's decided not to buy it.

Check with me if you need any details.

Lloyd, is it an original survivor # matching car as stated in the ad? Did it need too much cosmetic work? Did your friend thought about making an offer on it?
Thanks
Rick

According to my friend's report . . .

Everything is present and matching excepting the unitized dist is long gone.
Radiator has been replaced but OE radiator goes with the car.
Floors, trunk and frame rails are as dry and solid as they come.
Body and paint work are VERY "tired". Nothing obviously major was found, but the car needs some body work and a complete re-spray, in his opinion. LOTS of paint issues and some filler here and there.
Clean, dry, mostly honest car - but the necessary cosmetic work is a deal killer at the seller's asking price.

My friend offered $33K cash (and he HAS the cash), but the seller wouldn't budge . . .

My friend also admitted that from what little research he's done that it's most likely a mid-to-upper 20's (K) car in this market.

Hope this helps!

I was looking back on some old threads and came across this one. It appears that that this car originally listing on Ebay in October 2012 is the car I eventually purchased this past April form Bill Parodi in Austin, TX. Great guy and I believe I got a really fair deal. I've had to sort out a few things on it over the summer and many of you have helped me along the way including the correct engine color paint for a 1972 T/A HO. Next on the list is to rebuild the rear axle, see if the unitized distributor is salvageable (failed coil???) and sort out that 1500 rpm flat spot. It is a survivor with one repaint. Everything else is the day it left the factory. First show it entered it won top trophy.

That sounds like a nice ride if thats all the fixing it needed.

Maybe you can post the process used to paint engine and color choice? I "how to" help myself....

Congratulations and welcome (belated) to the board.

This board has a way of taking cars apart and buying/selling them by committee. Ultimately, there is only one person who needs to be happy with the car regardless of it's condition. I'm a HUGE fan of cars that are honest about their life - enjoy yours, I know I would.

BTW - where's the burnout video???

The real issues I am evaluating is to keep it as a survivor or restore it. That is the dilemma. I think I will bring it to MCACN next year for vintage certification and make a determination after that.

It's only original once! Keep it like it is & enjoy it. I get a kick out of not worrying about another paint chip or door ding. The vintage certification process was great but not necessary. Just pay the display fee and have a good time next year.

I think you have convinced me to just keep it as-is. I'm still bringing it to MCACN in 2014

For those of us who may have missed seeing the auction.....how about some pics?

This is NOT for a shark tank....appears that's already been done.

Also, I'm looking for a carb/top end engine picture with shaker/air cleaner removed....like to see an unmolested/undetailed top end...
