Something in the blue lineup.
Love that blue interior...
There was a blue one out at the POCI Convention in WV and it was a great looking car.
Thats when we started looking for one.
There is a blue one here in the Beach, however the owner will not sell.
It is a total basket case but an original blue car.

I wouldn't at all mind at finding a bristol blue with a tri-tone blue interior .... and a coronado with tri-tone maroon .... and a? Actually I would like to eventually own about 4 of these as I think the 61 bubble top ventura is just about the best looking GM car ever. I looked for years just to find what I have. Where in the hell are these cars? If you look back through the archives at the big auction houses ( Kruse and Barrett-Jackson) you just don't ever see these cars coming up for sale. Hell, they made over 12,000 Ventura coupes. Did we destroy almost all of them racing? Or have they gotten so collectable that they're always sold privately and they never end up on the market? What's a 389-348, 4 speed, 3.90 posi, bucket seat, ventura,PHS documented car worth? Anyone know?

And BTW, there's a black with tri-tone blue 389-348, 4 speed, bench seat, original owner car out here in Westminster and the guy won't even talk about selling. He's just letting car sit outside and deteriorate. It's way beyond just a simply restoration as it needs EVERYTHING. It's a shame the owner is just letting it go all to hell.

Good looking Gran Prix, Nice Ventura's are mostly held by private individuals. The ones that I have seen are getting the asking price fairly quickly and there is no need to run them thru an auction. Nice ones are going in the low to mid 30's These things rusted a lot back east and a lot of them were destroyed racing. Parts were, and are, very hard to come by. GM offered Pontiac dealers a parts return program at the end of the super Duty era and a lot of parts were sent back to GM and destroyed. Here is a picture of a blacl Super Duty Ventura owned by a private collecter here in Ga.

My God is that black one is beautiful. I still like yours the best. If you 'ever' get too old to drive just let me know. I'd be very happy to take that one off your hands. Of course at my age I may get there first.

I searched for a reasonably priced '61 bubbletop for years and finally found one sitting in a boneyard in Gallup around 1998 and bought it for under a grand. It is complete and in reasonably good condition. Some thought I paid too much but, 5 years later, I've been offered over $3500 for it. No sale, I bought it to keep and build for myself. I'm building mine a bit different. It's a Catalina bubbletop that was/is originally Jadestone green (medium) with matching int. I always liked Bristol blue too and was going to build it that way but, after seeing a nice in Jadestone green one and thinking about it more, I decided that I'm going to build it with the orignal color. After staying away from greens on many of my cars, I'm coming back to them. Currently, I'm having the seats done. I like the Bonneville style seat upholstery and door panels best so I have decided to put in Bonneville int in my Catalina. It'll have a 455 with dual quads,400 thm, posi, vintage mags and 4 wheel disc brakes like I have already put on my '61 Safari. I may clip the front frame too as I am not happy with the way my other '61 handles. I just love '61s and '62s so much. I agree, they are among the best looking cars ever built.
On parts and availability, for those who don't know, I have my own vintage Pontiac parts yard with over 370 Pontiacs. 1961 parts and parts cars are very hard to find. I get a lot of calls for parts for them but, I only sell what I don't need for myself. 1960 and 1962 parts are easier to find than 1961 stuff. Production on '61s was much lower than '62s. Plus, it was a 1 year only body style where chebby used it for 2 years.
I enjoy and appreciate the restored cars but, does anyone have any pics of modified/hot rod type cars like I'm building or is everyone just doing restorations?

Eventually it will get finished, I just work on it from time to time and gather parts. My racing desires are taking priority for now. Here's a picture of it a few years back. I have since gotten most of the parts for it. I want to put Rader mags on it like the one on the front. Steve www.pontiacheaven.org

Steve,

I don't have any pictures yet but a friend and I are building a 61 Ventura Nostalga(sp) drag race car. Were are putting a 455, 700R4 and mini tubs. The car was too rusty to restore and too good for a parts car so we decided on a race car. It will be Bristol Blue, still a couple of years work is left on it though...I just got back from the Turkey Run in Daytona and there is a club building old nascar replica race cars, They had a replica of the Ray Fox prepared, David Pearson driven 61 Catalina there, Pretty stock engine in it but still sounded good thru the open exhaust... and looked good sitting there.....
