The search continues.

He had a nice set of 5 'J' coded HD Pontiac 15" wagon wheels with an original factory mounted spare tire and matched hubcaps.

I'm just looking for round things that I can put 15" tires on and hide behind my hubcaps.

We couldn't agree on price.

I ran '80s Chev/GMC truck rallys on my 65 Cat...225 75 15 hides worked well. I used the chrome center and no trim ring. Inexpensive and plentiful. Plus it will get you wheeling soon while you decide on 8 lugs or find some 15" police rims.

I really need to get edjumacated on the 15" hubcaps.

I have too small 14 inch tires on my Catalina. I want to switch to 15" rims, but I'm nervous on the whole hubcap deal. I need learnin' stat.

The other thing I'm thinking about is going the Coker route... Do I dump the radials? Initially, the cost of rims, hubcaps, and new 15 inch radials would probably equal out to a set of Cokers.

I'm wheeling now...

99 percent of my travel is back country roads at 35mph tops. The floppers are fine for that while I'm getting acquainted with the car.

I had her decked out with the stars & stripes yesterday and put her in the local parade.

99 44/100% of the parade crowd comments were positive oohs and ahhs and thumbs up - except for one shrill loudmouth harpy complaining about carbon footprints or something... (probably a Prius driver).

What's the story on police rims?

Yeah, that's the next thing to think about

the best, and probably easiest to locate, 15" plain steel wheels are found on astro vans. they're 15x6, 5 on 5 bolt pattern, and almost neutral offset. i have 235/75/15s on the back. there's plenty of room.

Yep...even eco-nuts (secretly) wish they, too, had an old car.

The 15" rims were used on Ambulances, Heavy Duty and Police applications with HD brake option ...as was discussed above. I wouldn't seek them out, but if you find a set, they're a neat adder.

I found a set of new 205 75 14 mounted on nice Pontiac wheels.

Not what I really want BUT the price was right and the square tires had to go.

Still working on a set of proper tires on 15 rims, but for the interim I put the 205s on for local cruising.

I know they are undersized but how cautious/worried should I be with them? (They have to be better than the 15 year old fossils I've been using.)
