The original shaker scoop is there with solenoids inside and original paint with 455 HO decal.
He must have a Formula and a Trans Am?

Can't remember which one he is selling?

And the car in the pictures appears to be Gold exterior with Blue interior. WTH...

A lot of good parts visible - correct alternator, KR wheels, etc.

Somebody local should lay eyes on that to see what it really is...

I talked to the owner a few days ago and tried to find out more about the car.He claims that It is a T/A but when I suggested that it was a Formula he didn't want to talk to me much more. It sounded like he had a shaker and T/A hood that was going with the car.He made it clear that he wanted to deal with a local rather than someone from out of state.I ended up going to the Seattle area to look at the 71 T/A that is listed on e-bay as an original all numbers matching car only to find out that the heads and exhaust manifolds were gone. A 700 mile round trip that didn't pay off.

Wrong wheels wrong core support and I think the hood is not correct. He told me he has a offer of 27500 for the car. Nice car but 27500 for a car that's missing some expensive stuff is to much

I've been on this one too. It does seem to be generating a lot of attention up here. I hadn't been informed about the $27.5K offer though. I think he'd be doing Ok to let it go for that. I see this one being finished to a fair weather driver quality rather than a better than new trailer queen.
I'm not too concerned about incorrect heads & rad support since I have those on hand.

Sorry, I completely forgot about this thread.

There is a breakdown by color for the Trans Ams. I have the 1971 and 1972 figures somewhere, but I apparently did not label the documents. Have some searching to do.....

1970 Trans Ams
-----------------
Polar White - 2,150
Lucerne Blue - 1,046

1971 Firebird options
----------------------
P05 Honeycomb Wheels = 2,625
W63 Rally Gauges (Firebird & Formula) = 3,145
U30 Rally Gauges + Tach (Firebird & Formula) = 2,522
V32 Rear Bumper Guards = 522
V01 HD Radiator = 587
D80 Rear Spoiler (Formula) = 697
M20 4-speed (Firebird, Formula) = 1,941
L78 400 4bbl (Formula) = 4,304
NK3 Formula Steering Wheel (Firebird, Formula, Esprit) = 2,684
15" Wheels (Formula) = 1,099
C08 Vinyl Top = 16,723

Hey guys..... Just want to butt in here with a quick question....
I am fortunate enough to own a '72 455 HO that was transplanted in a 79 T/A many years ago. I do know the basic rarity of the motor so I don't want to be doing any modifying of it. It is all stock components other than the carb, distributor I believe and runs very nice and smooth, has the stock 7F6 heads and stock exhaust manifolds.
Question is what is this motor worth? I know they don't have the value that the SD has but really....

Depends on the numbers on the block, including the VIN , and casting numbers/date. $5-8 K , maybe more if someone has the car it came from..
With the AL blocks and heads and the LS stuff, the market is shrinking.

as Bruce states......you might want to try and find the car it came from.....if you don't already know it's current state...

There should be a partial VIN stamped on the front face of the block......below pass side head......

ok looks like 079569 with YB stamped below it. YB signified auto correct? How would one go about trying to track down the car with that VIN?

That's the EUN......The partial VIN should be lower down...closer to the pan rail...

There is a forum member here that runs a "number orphanage"..........for these missing cars/engines...I'm sure he will chime in...

Vin is in a vertical position. YB ( automatic) could be 72HO Firebird Engine.( I am unsure if that code was used for the GT''s, GTO's, T-37's).... With the partial vin on the block, Its possible to build a VIN and see what PHS says about it.
