Well, I guess I could use the space. You can store a lot of spare parts in a non-running Westfalia...lol

Though I have had a lot of fun in them over the years including going from DC to Atlanta and back in one that had to be push started… Here is the best use I have ever seen for one:

The Truth:
This car is driveway art. It has been made presentable enough that wives and neighbors wont complain about it being in the driveway. The motor (the olds engine they actually used in the automatics) is shot and not worth rebuilding anyways. The car had been converted to propane some time ago and the tanks are still in the trunk but the stuff on the motor has been mostly removed as it was all broken. I didn't post pix of the interior and engine bay because ugly. The floors are rusty and rust on the exterior is bondo'ed over in some spots and not others. Every panel needs work. Doors should be replaced. The car needs everything gone through. They made 79k of these in 1979 so you tell me how rare that is. In fact it is the WS6 delete T/A which is the more common one in Canada having roll up windows, drum brakes in the rear, no A/C and the thinner of the 2 types of snowflake rims. Hard top, not T-top. Has nothing to do with "Bandit" other than being a black T/A.

That being said, there are some positives about this car:

It is remarkably intact for a vehicle that is so rough. even the dome light is there, albeit on the back seat.
All the brackets and accesories are on the engine and they all fit an olds rocket 350 (much better engine than the 400 anyways) or even the old 330.
It has the authentic Cragar louvres on the back window, in decent unrestored condition.
The snowflakes are good with decent tires on them.
It has title papers from BC.
Way cheaper than the 17k people are asking for nicer ones. You can fix it with the $15,500 you saved, can't you?
You can fake the whole Bandit thing and those T-tops would always leak anyways.

So plan ahead and bring your trailer. Your son (or inner child) can have a real bonding experience this winter as you cut and weld and fix the months away.

The only thing I would take on partial trade is a small toyota type of pickup, and I will still want your cash too.
WOW! An honest man on Craigslist!

I don't know... I think "there are some positives" is a stretch, and the ideal that this can be fixed "with the $15,500 you saved" is laughable.

Ahhhh, the Bandit thing was earlier.... not in 79. Black is black and has nothing to do with a Bandit. T-tops weren't recommended in 79 because of leaking problems. My dealer recommended to me to not get them in 79 for my Formula. I was glad I listened. I'd take a 400 any day over an Olds 350 alternative. As for the roll up windows, no ac, and no WS6 package I'd pass. The no WS6 snowflakes are ugly... more so on this 'Bird. And more so for the pass seeing it came from Canada.... key word: winter highway salt.

Probably worth what he is asking just for parts, and he will most likely take less than that. What is the shaker hood and air cleaner parts alone worth?

Doubt it. Especially if it's rusty. The '79 stuff isn't worth high dollar, and the shaker being mounted to the hood makes it suspect.

One would think you would take better pix for a $70k 65 GTO...

Strange picture choices, too. Why would a buyer want to know what it looked like with some tired, dirty Rally IIs and a bad stance? (Before they put the engine back in?)
