Thanks Boss and 4birds. Now it's time to find some tires for the 15x7 steelies. Thinking about 245/60R15 BFG's.

I'm still looking for some lightly used repop Goodyear Polyglas F60-15's for the original Honeycombs.

HFR posted the 71 Firebird wheel colors in the A-body section and the chart said body color for steel wheels with the dog dish hubcaps and black with full size wheel covers. It is interesting that the A-bodies only had 4 colors available for steel wheels vs. all colors for the F- bodies. Any truth to that? I do know that Dan's T-37 has its original 14x6 steel wheels and they were painted Castillian Bronze like the A-body chart says for Canyon Copper body color.

Hey guys! Love that color Dennis and curious to find out what you end up doing about the wheels. My '71 had no wheel option on the PHS so I was wondering if it would have had steelies with dog dishes or full wheel disks. Also, I think a Formfest is a great idea and I'm in.

PureSD, Your Formula would have come form the factory with 14x7 Steel wheels with the dog dish hub caps. I'm not sure if your wheels would have been painted body color (Nordic Silver) or black. According to the charts that HFR posted, it would (should?) be body color.

Dennis, that was an interesting chart HFR put up...not exactly what I would have expected. basically, they way I read it, every color was avail if one didn't click off hubcaps. I've been pulling 14x7 wheels for a long long time, guess I have have not pulled enough off '71 F body's to see the every color deal.

BTW, the paint looks awesome!

Roger, I was equally surprised to see body color wheels for Firebirds. I don't readily recall any back in the day, maybe because they were rarely not replaced with Rally II's or Honeycombs on the Formulas, and the base and Esprit's seemed to have the trim rings with the dog dishes.

Sean, me too! Dan has 15x7 steelies that are painted Castillion Bronze that he ran on the T-37 (the correct wheel color for A-bodies) for a while and I assumed they would be correct for the Firebird. I'm kinda liking the darker color wheel even though it technically may not be correct.

Bob, that's the idea, no stripes and no Ram Air decals on the scoops even though it will be equipped that way.

Thanks for the compliments.

Perfection!

Sundance Orange WAS one of my all-time favorite vintage Pontiac colors for years, along with Lucy Blue. But . . . after viewing your Formula in it's gorgeous Canyon Copper livery, now I'm not so sure!

Dennis,
Did/does your Formula have the typical warped fiberglass hood issue? If so, what have you done or are doing to rectify? I know there has been a lot of suggested remedies but haven't known any to really help.

Sean,

No, I don't think so. Here are a couple pics of the car before bodywork & paint that show the hood in line with the fenders.
