Hey Mods - can you make this a sticky, so it stays at the top? This is a great thread! Very inspirational to say the least...

To whomever bumped this...thanks! I can't access my photobucket account here at work, but I'll post tonight or tomorrow.

My LeMans after detailing the engine bay...oh yeah, I also dropped in a 455!

First time I ever did anything like this...and I'm currently working on my Firebird!

Thanks - I'm very proud of that engine bay and can't wait to get the Firebird done!

Radiator came from Alumitech - they got a good review here when I was looking into them. Not cheap, but a fabulous piece of work...quality welds, workmanship, and Don (the owner) is very helpful. Set me back $600 but it's an exact drop in; the 4 core brass/copper is upwards of $400 IIRC so why not spend an extra $200...gotta support the economy!!! It's an A-body radiator - do a search under the business entities here and you'll see...everybody had good things to say about Alumitech.

The hose is the standard 66 A-body repro from Ames...has the GM AUS stamp on it. Had to cut it down a inch or so...but you know that!

Cheers!

The hose looks exactly like the one I got today from NAPA. And it'll be about an inch off it too to get it lowered the way it should be. Might sit different at the alternator tho, but that's no big deal.

Got the Alumitech site saved. I was wondering as I see the cap is where it's supposed to be. Not like some other replacements shown lately. As you say, expensive but worth it.

Thanks BC.

Search my build "swapping the 326 for a 455..." I took some great pix of that radiator. First class job all the way.

Tod - that is such a sweet ride you've got there. LOVE a 4 speed without a console; it's strictly business!

It took 1.5 years. It would have been done faster, but alot of the parts were still at my father's house when it was struck by lightning & burned. I had to buy a whole lot more than I originally planned to. I didn't originally plan on painting the car either, but I'm glad it is done. It would've looked good, but not as good as it does now.

My car had a console when built. I have the console & it is in decent shape, but needs restored. So I just bought the boot & ring for a non-console car. I kind of like it that way. The console may not get installed for a while.

Thanks.

If it wasn't for the flames on my car, Tod's wheels and his missing console..... our cars could almost be twins. But Tod's is much nicer than mine.

I like that too. I came so close to buying a 4 speed 68 GTO 'vert, it didn't have a console either. Like I said, that just looks all business to me!

1970gpsj, I saw your slideshow for the first time about a month ago. It is one of my alltime favorite resto photo docs. That is an awesome GP SJ.
