Seatbelts
In my Tempest I put in aviation style seat belts. In short they suck. They will stay tight once buckled but when you take them off they lose the setting, flop all over the car when I don’t have passengers and they just generally aren’t good. Can I adapt retractable seatbelts. If not what are you guys using?

Our nomad has that style of belt, was optional in 56. Works okay for me and doesn't bother me but I suppose you could adapt pretty much any style of retractable you like if you really want to. Lots of options in the aftermarket with retractable lap belts and likely still using the original attachment points. There are even some nice shoulder belt setups that many are adapting to older cars that aren't super intrusive.
Should be a pretty easy swap if you choose to do so. |

I bought a 3 point retractable kit from Ames for my 68 GTO and am very happy . So is my wife ! Safer and we don’t have a rat tangle of belts . 68 has the provision in the roof to mount a shoulder belt though . I already forgot who makes them for Ames , might be cheaper but I’ll support our sponsor when I can .

Do the '64s have a threaded boss in the roof structure like the '66s do? If so, I highly recommend the 3-point retractable belts from Morris Classic Concepts. I put them in my '66 and they are fantastic.

I have the Morris belts too. Great upgrade if available for your car.

I went a discount route. Bought some universal 3 point retractors from Amazon. I had to weld nuts for anchor points. It worked out nice. Secure, safe, comfortable. The retractor mounted on the floor just in front of the back seat.
