Car's a bit messy for that kind of price point... by the PHS, incorrect items are radio, steering wheel, seats, seat belts. Trim 208 is standard but the ad claims "deluxe interior". Seats are from Trim 218 "Custom", and the covers look sloppy. Steering wheel on PHS is "deluxe" which is the 3 spoke vinyl, the wood wheel would be "custom sport"... and though I like the bird in the horn button, that's from a 68. I see "deluxe" seat belt buckles on the PHS, I think I see a wide slot blade from a standard belt.
Also, not only is the radio on PHS a basic AM PB, there is no tape player, and to properly add that option, there should be speakers in the kick panel. The missing radio push button looks bad. Does not present well for anything over $50K and they want a quarter million? |

btw, the 00001 in the VIN indicates the first assigned VIN to any Pontiac for the 69 model year. Cars were not built in exact VIN sequence, so this doesn't mean it was the first built, but it was probably built the first day of production. Because it was built at Van Nuys the first Pontiac VIN was automatically a Firebird since it was the only model built in that plant but say at the home plant the 00001 could be a GP, GTO, LeMans, Catalina etc. The 2nd through fifth digits were stamped in later to denote which model and bodystyle this particular VIN sequence was being built to.
I'd say a Fbird 400 (non HO etc) automatic hardtop in nice but not concours condition like this is a $40 something car at best. They are dreaming. Other points that stand out on what looks to be otherwise a nice car: 1...color is way off. Does not look like any factory 69 paint color. 2...rear springs way too high 3...autozone antenna 4...incorrect tailpipes 5...nose emblem is not painted, repro? 6...missing front air baffle 7...hand sewn homemade dash pad 8...seats brackets screwd into the carpet rather than tucked under 9...custom style seatcovers on a standard interior car 10...black instead of amber window crank knobs 11...clear windshield on AC car (should be softray) 12...mix of standard belts and deluxe (deluxe ones on the PHS) 13...incorrect horn button and PHS calls for the deluxe rubbery steering wheel 14...tilt wheel not on PHS 15...hinge cover on driver seat worn through 16...door striker not correct body color painted 17...radio missing a pushbutton 18...8 track should have dual front kick panel speakers (8 track not on PHS) 19...RII's look correct but car was built with deluxe wheel covers 20...cockeyed headlight You'd think for a quarter mil they'd have engine bay pics, dashboard pics, trunk pics, undercarriage pics?

5...nose emblem is not painted, repro?
This is a faded original nose emblem and why it was likely kept and not replaced |
