BATTERY CABLES
I had a file on OE cables but it was lost during the crash.
What was the factory gauge of the OHC cables? I have the parts book info for length and numbers but no mention of gauge. The H&H offerings are not correct but the best we can get it seems. Thx

Sorry, Yes M&H.
I had some old O.E. cables and IIRC they were pretty small/thin. As far as incorrect/wrong; Lengths are short. The gauge is of a more standard cable size. And No Red Positive Cable was sent to a member who just ordered these very pricy "Reproductions"

I dug out what I believe to be an OE cable, or at least close to the smaller gauge used on the OHC, compared to the current offerings.

Here's one source besides Ames: https://www.lectriclimited.com/batte...-ground-straps They state that many cables in the 1950s and early 1960s were 6 gauge, but as loads increased the cables were changed to 4 or even 2 gauge.

Among several other early details.
I used this early possibly pre-production factory overhead shot for reference for years. Clearly, some items/details seemed to have never been used but I still found it a good resource. Just wish I still had that file on the OE cables I found on a '67.

No Doubt
But "Survivor" Cammers are becoming extinct.
Shown below is the '67 that I found the original cables in. This Tempest was said to be a one-owner car. The owner was a customer of the shop I found it at. It was brought in for routine service, and upon the last service they passed away. The shop owner said he attempted to locate family members for years but never did. Then he parked behind the shop where it remained for decades. The one thing I couldn't believe was upon removing the rims the DS rear drum still had a paper Code Tag on it, this was said to have been used during an issue with the stamping process. This was a very original Tempest. I had taken a load of pictures before touching it but lost them all back when my PC crashed

If you come across or have any OE cables check the gauge if you can. Thanks.

So far so good with American Autowire- got a helpful person on phone, looked up GM reference, made and shipped in 10 days. They also had my 69 Tempest harness built in 10 days. Very impressed.
