Default For Sale: Original Late 1975 / Early 1976 7-Blade 19" Fan 498579 dated G75 (Aug. 75)

For Sale: Original Late 1975 / Early 1976 Firebird 7-Blade 19" Fan GM part # 498579 and dated G75 (August 1975). The fan is in good useable condition without any damage but there is still some rust spots on the steel "finger" part which should be removed prior to re-painting. I had cleaned some of the rust off with sandpaper and SOS pads.
Each aluminum fan blade is stamped "916322" (the Schwizner part #, the manufacturer), "G75" (August 1975 date code), and "498579" (the GM part number. GM # 498579 is listed as one of the 3 fans issued on the assembly line to 1975 Firebirds with 8 cyl. engines and with A.C. as shown in the 1975 Firebird Product Description Manual (aka, assembly manual), UPC 6K1, Sheet 2 (see photo #5. The other 2 fans listed are GM # 480034 and # 480035. Based on my research fan # 498579 was issued to late 1974-1976 Firebird V8 models w/AC. I do not believe that the 498579 fan was ever sold as a service part over the parts counter at the Pontiac dealerships.
$50 plus shipping and Paypal fee (if applicable) from Merrimack, NH 03054.
If interested send me a PM.

Default fan for sale

Has it got the extra pitch for a/c? does it come with a shroud? I have a 76 formula with the 400. Just trying to get the old clutch fan. Do not want to fool with electric fan/wiring mess that I bought it with. Thanks in advance,

Ken

Ken,
As stated on the 1975 Firebird Product Description Manual (UPC 6K1, Sheet 2) entitled "ENGINE FAN & CLUTCH 8-CYL. ENGINE (W/AIR COND.)" There were 3 different fans issued on the assembly line: GM # 480034, 480035, and 498579. GM bought fans and fan-clutches from 2 manufacturers: Hayes-Albion and Schwitzer.
My 498579 fan dated August 1975 is one of these fans listed and was made by Schwitzer. I do NOT have the fan-clutch and shroud. 99.99% of the parts in my collection are 1963-1967 Corvette and 1970 Camaro. At one time years ago I had about 30 or 40 different GM 5-blade and 7-blade fans, mostly Chevrolet.

Ken,
Are you still interested in the 498579 fan? I found the fan and sent you a message last Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021.
