Put the GTO in winter storage today ... how does this always happen?
The place I store my GTO always "calls the horses to the barn" mid-October. He filles both sides of his building and fills the center aisle with boats and RV's since they are first out come spring. The earlier you get in gets you the prime real estate with electric for float charger so today was the day.
This year I got a late start due to health, had a flooded carb and crankcase from leaking floats and locked up brakes when I finally got the car out of storage. I spent the entire season working on the car (when I felt up to it) and got everything sorted out just in time to put it away again. Not a good year, but next year the car will get a workout. Damn she was running great (just to taunt me) on the way there!

Our driving season is really just starting. It has cooled off enough to enjoy getting out. Thankfully, I got a couple little things fixed and am ready to go. Our annual car club show is this Saturday and they are calling for clear skies and temps around 80.

Winter blanket is coming soon. Maybe a few more dry days left, but getting cold, not good driving weather.
Gonna be a long winter I think.

My situation is reversed. I need a few days of rain which I think we're going to get this week. It hasn't rained here in a month and my home is on a dirt road. Extreme dust right now.

I figure mine will be finished in about time to have to put it up lol very frustrated . I’ll drive it in the cold as long as there’s no salt or snow .

They don't actually ever get "put away" since I'm moving stuff around continually. K

I'd move straight away if I ever had to consider storing a car due to the climate, what a miserable place to live.

The up-side of storing our toys for the winter is that when spring does finally come it's like getting something new again. There is also the time for doing projects that require long down time.
I will use the cars up to the time the first snow (and salt) falls.

I’ve been trying to get mine together all of my adult life and then some ! I have a lot of time to make up lol I doubt the fun will ever wear off . Car has been off road since 79 . this is my 1st and I’d say only frame off ! I was supposed to have it back in September , this fall weather is my favorite and I just missed a show that I was looking forward to all year . We don’t really get hammered with snow around the Cincy area, mayb 1or 2 snow falls - just darn cold around January . I’ll have it out on a 20 degree day in a heartbeat . Any colder I don’t go outside much lol

That sucks...hang in there
Yes, winter blows but you get used to it...if I drove her all year round I would be afraid of the novelty wearing off lol

It’s a shame you gotta put them away. I’m driving mine so much I’m having trouble keeping it clean

Those of you in the colder climes, I feel your pain. I did my sentence. Spent most of my life in Colorado/Kansas. I would 'lock up' when the cold hit. Didn't want to drive or work on my cars. I just suffered for 8-9 months with it until the summer.
I started my 20th year in Phoenix last month. You couldn't get me out of the desert with a stick of dynamite now. Absolutely the best decision I ever made. I drive my cars 365 days a year now, and it never gets old. In fact, it's even more fun the more time I spend with them!

Ethanol free fuel or race gas is my go to for my garage queens over the winter. Bike, sled or car....
