I am reinstalling my dash and have an extra light/plug that I'm not sure where it goes. Perhaps I have another light plugged in where its not supposed to go? It lloks like it could go in the tach/speedo housing or the heater housing. Any help is apprecisted. Thanks

That one goes into one of the dash light holes in the lower right side of your speedo cluster.
It actually transmits light through fiber-optics to your ashtray for illumination.

So the other end of this ends up at the ashtray?

Furthest to bottom right as you face front of gauges, must be a parking light socket.

Funny, mine was in the upper, passenger side.
Another question. Chris, or anyone else, does your '73 have pins or screws holding the lens cover on? And, date of car or printed circuit?

I have changed out the cluster of this car as it was originally an idiot light car so the circuit board has been changed out and I re pinned the harmonica connector to get everything to work, as for the lens I’ll take a look tomorrow …..I have the original cluster too from the car still or pretty sure I should have it let me check tomorrow…

IMO, not a couple options.
Bottom 2 on the right are brake and seat belt lights.

IIRC the earlier clusters used those funny pins to hold the lens on, the latter ones were the 1/4”(?) screws

Ok here is what I have original cluster screws to hold the lens, this pic answered my own question on the fiber optic bulb position and that's the sticker that is on it...

The pins were used for the FUEL/VOLTS package I think for all years.
Chris, you said that the cluster was an upgrade by you, so I can't include that unless you had the date stamp showing the date. Jonny, that would be for a '74 and I know they switched sometime in the '73 model year.

i meant to go dig out my clusters;
iirc I kept them original, or when I repaired one, I intentionally put it back as it was.

Hopefully those of you who recognize my posts know that I am all too happy to share my recollections, or observations - but I am by no means a professed expert - so if someone suggests I am wrong, I will generally back of - unless I have good reason to be stubborn ![]() I try to always be clear when I am going off memory, versus my source, or if I am (which I do on occasion) offering my opinion. Second, I went and check my remaining small collection - here is what I have found; My findings absolutely back up HFR's prior post. All my secondary pods (fuel/volts) that I have use the clips - this includes the couple "UNLEADED FUEL ONLY" (1975+) pods.
Even though my ZA gauges dated as being 1971, I consider them a part of my complete "collection" of 1970 gauges (I think I have all versions). EDIT: I looked for a listing I made here years ago for a spare set of 1973 rally gauges w/tach that I had, but it, and the attachments are gone - but I found it in my personal files; the printed circuit appears to be dated Dec 12th, the case is stamped what appears to be March 1973, and it too had the clips.

Oops, I misread the date on the picture that cnc posted and said Jonny posted it. It actually reads 1-25-73 and apparently has the screws. Thanks.
