Whenever I get any free time I have been working on this cool intake to get it fitted and ready for the dyno. I have the 8 ports raised and matched to the Edelbrock heads now. I also made a replica block off plate for the idling carb to look more like an original bathtub and more importantly provide vacuum sources for my street car. My car will need vacuum for PCV, power brake booster, vacuum advance and the heater system. I will use this plate for the 4 supplies. My AFB's are race SD clones and don't have any vacuum ports drilled in them. Thanks to 61-63 for providing dimensions for the idling carb plate. Also thanks to Tom and John for providing lots of material in this manifold for many different fitment configurations. (lots of hand grinding, and lots of chips!)

Father's day was great. I had about 5 hours of uncommitted time to work on the engine for my 62 Catalina. Got it painted, bathtub bottom final installed, and the vacuum situation worked out with a fake idling carburetor plate. Few pics.

They look like 61SD covers or 60 covers with stacks put in them.Confirm Mike?62 SDs had flat top pentroofs and were taller,63s had flat pentroofs, taller like 62s and had stacks instead of the twistin like 62SDs.Tom

These valve covers were on the car when I bought it. They are definitely (made-up) as far as the stacks are concerned. The welding of the stacks is pretty amateurish up close. They are also very short IMO. I had to use 3/8" spacer rails under them to clear a very conservative stud mounted valvetrain. But they have the look for my clone and they were free. You 61-64 experts would know better than I what they may have started life as? Do you guys think the color is OK? I used Duplicolor DE 1610, which I have used in the past. Seems just a shade darker than normal. Liked Plasticoat better but they are out of business. This looks just slightly dark and slightly more green.

I found this today in my Intake research, is this what you're talking about? $4000.-- on Ebay now, It had M/T on it. Last edited by TRADERMIKE 2012; 07-02-2022 at 02:53 AM. |

Thats not a factory intake.M/T made them for pontiac and other brands in the 60s.They are not worth anything like that number.A couple members on this board have converted ones to late style heads. Were never a high performance intake.Tom

If you want to give me $10,000 for the two Modified, Fits on 65 & later heads, I will take the Money and buy a couple more of the latest 421 SD style TR Intakes being made.
I am one of the two guys mentioned above. That being said Have a good day. Tom V.

They look cool under the hood and don't make any power based on the Mopar version we ran on the dyno. Very narrow power band and less power at high RPM's than we expected. On the Mopar 383 we ran, peak HP at 5600-5700 RPM. Made just short of 400 HP. 397@5700 RPM. Owner was pretty disappointed.
