Use anti-seize or sealer on exhaust pipes and muffler joints?
Folks,
It's been a while since I put an exhaust system on a car. I've never used a sealer or anti-seize on the joints between the exhaust pipes and mufflers, but it makes sense to me. I'm using stainless steel U-Bolt type clamps on 2 1/2" pipes and they are aluminized steel pipes and mufflers, so shouldn't be too hard to crush to get a tight fit. I see that Gardner supplies RTV and recommends using it to get a tight seal. I'm thinking Anti-Seize might be better so I can separate the pipes if I ever need to. But then, which anti-seize would I use? The nickel based Permatex anti-seize is recommended for Stainless tailpipes, but I don't see any of them recommended for aluminized steel like my exhaust pipes and mufflers. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Old Joe

Walker Acousti/Seal.
Non-hardening, just heat the joint for removal.
