Another Turbo cam question
I saw this used solid roller cam for sale, ya don't see Pontiac blower/turbo cams out there for sale too often. Proposed for a 469, 290 cfm SM heads, 9.6 compression. Single T6 turbo, log headers. E85 port fuel injection. Mostly street and not afraid of a rough idle TH400, 3.23 gears.
Comp Cams 300/312 Duration @ 0.050 264 intake 276 Exh lobe Lift .4210 .4210 113 ICL 113 LSA @ 0.050 Intake opens at 19 BTDC Exhaust opens at 71 BBDC If not a good for turbo combo is there an "Old Faithful" type cam for turbos out there? Thanks

Pretty big cam for a 462 and I'm sure the overlap is a little bit much too.

For sure not the right turbo cam for a street car.

I have two custom ground HFT boost grinds if you want to go that way.

I don't believe I've ever seen a back to back test between a turbo grind cam and any other cam under boost anywhere else. |

I have known Richard Holdener personally since the 2001 Bonneville Event.
A very sharp guy. Nice man and his girlfriend, (now his wife for many years) is the same. You can take what he says in the videos to the bank. Tom V.

I agree he makes sense. My take away is get a cam that works well with your N/A combo and add a turbo, make more power. Almost too easy

You are putting more MASS FLOW thru the engine, (CFM stays the same as the NA engine), Small Turbos and Superchargers have a lower MASS FLOW capability vs a Larger turbo or supercharger and can make more power in some cases.
(If you have screwed up the rest of the engine, you get in some cases less power.) There are lots of videos out there by Richard where he talks about induction systems, camshafts, cylinder heads, and of course, different sized Turbochargers and their good and not so good points on a HP Power Map. One of the best teachers out there. Tom V.

I've watched most of his videos and he has great information. He blows a lot of myths out of the water...... you have to use a reverse split cam. tight lobe separation won't work and the famous long exhaust duration will blow your boost out of the exhaust. I have heard that on this site many times!

I was thinking of going with “old faithful” from SD. It has a good track record with motors similar to my combo n/a. Just add boost to that

That would work well on a supercharger application.
It might not make the highest HP on a Turbo Engine but should still be just fine for the application specified in Post #1. If you can find a Old Faithful cam, give it a try. Tom V.
