Melling M54D oil pump
I just took apart a Melling oil pump to see if there were any issues before putting it into my new 463. I think you can see from the photo that the gear teeth have some striations along the leading edges, especially on the driven gear. Is this a problem that would effect the efficiency of the pump? There is also some wear on the cover where the gears make contact. I assume this is normal.

It's common to see that stuff, regardless of brand. Problem running it? Not that I have seen. Just looks ugly.

I would sand the scratches out of the cover on some soapy wet or dry 220 grit sand paper in a figure 8 motion and put it back together with blue Loctite after all the oil is off the bolts and out of the bolt holes and running it again!

Yea, I will clean it up and run it again. That is what I was hoping for, not to have to replace it if not needed. Thanks.
