2021 Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race - September 16, 17, & 18
I'm a little tardy announcing this years race, but we're on for next week. Please see the PSMCDR website (www.purestockdrags.com) if you need to see the rules if you are bringing a car to race and have a ton of fun. Open to spectators on Friday (qualifying) & Saturday (race day). Dan, Lyndon and I hope to see a lot of the Pontiac (and PY) faithful there!
Mid-Michigan Motorplex a little north and east of Stanton, MI. Address is 2589 N. Wyman Rd., Stanton, MI 48888 Thursday is early tech (no time trials) Friday is tech & time trials Saturday is the shoot outs Dennis Last edited by SD455DJ; 09-09-2021 at 07:47 AM. |

Hi Dennis! Not hijacking your thread. Please give my apologies to Jeff Dennison when you see him. I believe I called him Eric once or twice at the T/A nats! Trying to make it out to Stanton on Saturday!

Though the weather reports were forecasting rain a week ago, by the time last Thursday came, the rain was gone. We had beautiful sunny weather for Friday (82 degrees) and Saturday (72 degrees) for qualifying and race day. The total count was 127 cars (3 were Time Trial only as they didn't meet the rules), however there were 6 cars that had problems and had to bough out, leaving 118 cars ready to race (59 pairings). If we had our usual Canadian friends there (8-10 cars) and the large group of missing regulars (12-15 cars) for family matters, we would have exceeded 150 cars this year. But, we were very thankful, none the less.
The quickest Pontiac was a '69 RAIV GTO of Joh Kryta (12.10 @ 114 mph) and we had at least 6 TA's ('71, '72, 2 - '74's, 2 - '79's), 2 - RAII Birds, and 6 - GTO's of various flavors. (I didn't take many pictures...sorry, too busy!) Needless to say, we all had a great time and no real carnage or any major mishaps to speak of. Thanks to all the racers that believe in the event and the 1000's of spectators that came out on both days. Dennis |

Also one ringer of a 61' Catalina (it ran ~106 MPH), a 70 GT-37, a 73 SD-455 Formula 4spd (clone - but a beautiful car) and a certain 69 428 HO 4spd GP with flakey white paint, who ran a career best of 99.5 MPH! (That's with 3.55:1 gears.....)
It was a fun time, Dennis! A big thanks to you, Dan, and the rest of your crew! |

Hey Joe! Thanks for the help remembering the other Pontiacs at the race. I believe I saw you rip off a 14.50 during the shoot-outs! Very impressive for a very stock 428HO 4-spd GP! Always good seeing you their too!

Thanks Dennis!
That ET could be far better - I have to work on getting out of the hole better. So - improvements are up to the driver! |
