So sorry for your loss and my deepest condolences to the family. Only time I meet him was at the 1998 GTOAA and they helped finish building my car right on the show field. He would come by every couple of hours to see if we needed anything. Such a great guy!!

I had the pleasure of having dinner with Steve Ames and Chris Casperson a couple of times over the years.
The first time was after I was selected as the winner of a free trip to one of the Pontiac Events in the south-east part of the USA. It was one of the Pontiac Events. The second time was at one of the Woodward Dream Cruise events in Michigan where they were showing their products in one of the large lots around the Pontiac Michigan area and close to Woodward Avenue. In both cases I enjoyed the personal side of both gentlemen at Dinner each time, (when they were "supposedly" competing against each other for sales. And of course the many Norwalk events Steve helped put on over the years. Rest in Peace Steve, you were the perfect example of a successful Pontiac Business Man who gave back to his many customers. This is sad news Indeed. I have known Steve for 20 years. Used to buy parts from him directly and he would help load my truck at the end of one of his big Barns. A great guy and so helpful. We all are part of his legacy. RIP Steve..

I had posted this earlier on several threads that had started on FB but it bears repeating for those that didn't see it.
Steve gave me my first break when I was still in my 20's. I always remembered and appreciated that especially when later on we ended up becoming competitors. Despite that, he not only remained respectful, that's when we started to become friends. Mostly because of his friendly nature. Then when I later reached out to him to help us financially with Pypes when it started to take off, he made a huge leap of faith and took a significant financial risk. Looking back, I don't see how we would have made it in business without his help. He never let his fortune change him. He had some interesting and sometimes humorous perspectives on business and life in general and that's what made him so likeable. I can't think of a single person in my 40 year career that knew him and didn't have anything but respect and admiration for Steve. He was a real visionary. It's just so sad that this Parkinson's shortened his life when prior to it, he was the picture of health.
