It's got to be blue! wanted 70-72 TA
At age 63, perhaps it's time to get my bucket list car out of my dreams and into my garage.
Would prefer a well optioned, 4 speed, with A/C, but the right car with two of those three could work, but I won't consider one that's to nice to drive. I do understand early TAs are not cheap. Just in case trade bait might work I have a low mileage, numbers matching Red & black 73 TA (non SD) 455, auto with lots of options. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Arnold 813-951-3500 |

im4darush - Here is an auto- AC TA listed out of Miami. Like you I am looking for a 71-72 LB 455HO TA, but I am really focused on finding a 4sp non-air car (regardless of condition). Maybe this works for you. Personally the color combination is my favorite! (my 79 is a Blue with white interior)
https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/cto...165600929.html I hope you find the car that makes the "bucket list"

Good catch Keith. The black/White combo was available in 71, so technically it is correct, but obviously not "born with". It does make me curious if the switch was due to desirability or if they couldn't get the parts to restore the Sandalwood interior. It's not like you see interior parts in that color available very often.

Hey thanks much Shift'n Gears!
I hadn't seen that one in my recent searches. The bones look & sound good enough for a driver but that level of "complete restoration" and originality for 69K doesn't seem close enough to reasonable. From the few poor pics my guess is a close inspection wouldn't improve my opinion of this car. Valuations are not easy to glean at this time. Thoughts? Personally Sandelwood (thanks Kieth for pointing that out) is a serious knock, just never was able to warm up to it but white deluxe with blue is awesome! |

The Good:
Numbers matching Drive train Original Blue Car Items to consider: Altered interior, Day 2 mods like chrome valve covers, Intake not painted, brake booster not cad plated, aftermarket wheels, etc.... For me the altered interior isn't the end of the world as I like the White interior over the sandalwood (no offense Keith), but that is personal preference. Typically I would say altering the interior would decrease the value of the car. For the most part the day 2 mods are tasteful. As far as "restored" goes, everyone's definition is different, but my expectations would be back to factory original with a level of quality that would present well (not necessarily win) at a national show. While that car has a new paint job and the engine bay has been freshened up, I wouldn't consider it a "Full Restoration" as it would take several changes to get back to factory original. Also when someone takes a picture with dead leaves in the shaker it makes you wonder about their attention to details... In my opinion it is a good cruiser that will display well at the local weekend cruise in, be fun to drive, and still retain value since it is #'s matching and blue. Obviously it needs to be priced accordingly though and I think the asking price is much higher than that.

Can I please get some impute on pricing expectations for the 70-72 TAs for a nice driver?
The definition (mine) would be on a scale of 1 bad to 10 perfect, paint, interior, originality at an 8 on a car that runs out well. |
