Default 1976 455 4 Speed Survivor Trans Am

Just picked up a original paint 4 speed 455 survivor 2 owner car. They are still out there.
33k miles. Great options.

That's a nice one. Power Windows, Deluxe Interior, AM/FM Stereo/8 track. 455/4 speed, A/C, Tilt, rear defrost, floor mats. I'd say that is well equipped.

I had a Firethorn red 455/4 speed I bought new. That car had one menacing sound when you tromped on it and opened up those secondaries. Wish I still had that one.

This was recently resold again. Wonder if the new owner is a member here?

isn't the term "survivor" for an unmodified car?

that's the wrong bird;
notice how the "Trans Am" decals are orange - but the bird is gold?
Non SE (or in the case of 1976's; LE) starlight black Trans Am's used coloured birds - the gold bird was reserved for the SE/LE cars..

was the car repainted - or was this a 'no bird' car which had the hood bird added after the fact?

I might seem to ve nitpicking, and I appologize for that;
I am just curious about the "survivor" claim...

I don't think that the term 'survivor' has ever been defined to everyone's satisfaction and I predict that it never will be.
If I say 'survivor' someone's going to say that the tires have been changed.. so, my philosophy is; 'Who cares?'..It's a great car. Congratulations!

tires are maintenance items that not only wear with age, they become a liability;
I have understood the term to suggest that the car is wholly original, and completely unmessed with - or nothing is out of place, not non-factory equipment ect...
I would think that a factory repaint would be forgivable as long as it is done correct... like the 'survivor' '70 Formula that surfaced last year.
Another recent 'survivor' discussed here is the (slightly crusty) '70 gold GTO Judge...

First, I want to point out that this is not a personal attack on your post/comment unruhjonny.
Having said that, I was exaggerating about the tires (barely) but my point is, every time someone says survivor, someone else is going to start quantifying the term based on their subjective idea about what the word implies. Next thing you know, it's a 12 page thread that's been hi-jacked regarding original subject, which is the car and not the word. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it happens in this thread.

I get it.

and I tried to be clear (I revised my post a couple times) that I wasn't trying to rain on the OP's parade;
It looks to be a beautiful car.
Is it original paint?
Or was it repainted at which time a mismatched set of decals was applied?

I guess in a round about way, I was fishing for a a qualifier for the "survivor" status...
Not much info was given, no engine shots...
It could be an older restoration, which was overall a well maintained and presenting car... but that wouldn't qualify it as a survivor.
