Default Valley pan source

I am looking for a new valley pan for a EGR intake and hyd roller lifters. I have checked PY/Ames and Butler. No luck. My EGR intake came from SD who ported it and did their other little mods, so I am not willing to replace it. Any suggestions?

Is your problem the combination of hydraulic roller lifters and the EGR intake? Like you are searching for an after-market valley pan made for such a combination? If so, I don't see one either.

If you can modify a stock EGR pan for the hydraulics, Frank's has one.

Dan

What year is your EGR intake ?

I believe 73-74 EGR intakes would be the same...and 75-78 EGR intakes would be the same (as we know 78 intakes were also used in 79).

I modified ( hammered) some clearance into the Tomahawk valley pan to work with my 78 cast iron intake and hydraulic roller lifters. I also did a touch of grinding on the bottom of the stock 78 cast intake - very minor grinding -pretty well all the additional clearance was by hammering the Tomahawk ...see pics

I do, but I did not do it any favors when I tried to "clearance" it.

Yes. I'm surprised the aftermarket is still not making this one.

Starting to look like I will be doing some welding. Pippins thread below is several years old and still no one is doing this one. I guess not enough interest. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the info. I had ordered the tomahawk but missed the small print that it is a non-EGR pan.

Good info. Thank you. I ordered the tomahawk before I spotted the small print about not working with a EGR intake. I think that I will be cutting apart the old one and the new one and do whatever it takes to make it work. My intake I believe is a 74.

I have one of the aluminum ones I'd sell. It has no hole for the PCV.

I'm guessing you are using that intake for originality???

I have a 78 EGR intake on the 350 currently in my car. The intake not have the huge EGR sump underneath.

The 76 and up (not exactly sure when they got away from the deep sump EGR style) EGR intakes will work with the earlier valley pans.

My 1970 350 has it's original valley pan with the 78 EGR intake.

My main purpose for mentioning this is to let folks know the latest EGR intakes don't need the valley pans with the huge recess in them.

I find it strange that Pontiac kept using the recessed valley pans with the later EGR intakes that did not need the recess...
