Bumping this thread back because I'm not too sure we have the lower hose numbers figured quite right yet. If I'm reading these posts correctly, I'm seeing we think the 480200 was 1970 only and the 480201 was '71 - up.
Check this page from the 1970 Firebird Product Information Manual. For those of you who have the manual, it's page 6-1.1. Notice the lower hose has both 480200 and 480201 shown as originally used, both with pick code NT. It's important to note this sheets date. First issued 9-25-69, then with two revisions of 11-24-69 and 2-11-70. What this says to me is that both the #200 and #201 could have been correct for a '70 V-8 Firebird built on or after 2-11-70. I think it's also reasonable to believe that all '71 V-8's would have had the 480201.
What do you guys think? Does this match your original assembly line hoses?

The other way around is what my research shows. 201 for 70-71 and 200 maybe late 71 and up.

Logically, wouldn't 480200 precede 480201? It's hard to imagine the logic for it to occur in reverse.

Yes, my thought too. This would be a rare occurrence if the larger number preceded the smaller.

I wonder if the 2 part numbers (480200 and 480201) are for the spring in the hose and the actual hose?
Possibly the hose itself is 480201?

1st pic is for 1973 Bird from assembly manual.
(notice it says hose assembly as opposed to top hose as just hose)

Maybe hose itself is 480201 as the assembly is 480200?

Last pic has the top hose being superseded.

Here are a couple pics of what I believe to be original 1972 hoses. (I may be wrong) The lower hose is clearly 480200. The clamps have obviously been changed. Is there a date code somewhere on them?

That picture of the top hose may show a date code of February 8th, '72 (8 - B - 2). But I'm not 100% certain about hose date codes. Anyone know for sure?

I would say his hose(s) was/were replaced. The 481776 hose (I feel) was used on a different body style and used for all body styles as a replacement (trim to fit). The date coding would read like '78, Feb. 2nd.
My '74 upper hose 489867 was dated like 9 19 3 (I really don't know about too much earlier than that). My lower hose was 480200, but didn't see a big GM stamp on it (I can't read the date code).

I have had several 480200 nos hoses and they were not all the same. The 481776 hose that I copied my stamp from was dated 69 so I don't think they replaced anything, I think if you have a different # it would be because of a different manufacturer, Gates vs. Dayco.

And the '776 hose came off an early Firebird?

Here are my '74 hoses. The date code for the upper is Sept. 19, 1973 (9 19 3). The lower is hard to read, but it's Oct. 7, 1973 (3J07B, 2 days before invoicing shows shipped).

The original 69 dated hose I had came off a low mileage 71 Trans Am.
