Default Steel roof drip rails

Hey folks, has anyone bought any new repopped steel roof drip rails for the hardtop second gen? ? I'm thinking of putting them back on my car, but my old ones are just kinda hazy with a couple light pings in them that bother me. If they repops arent the real deal though I'd rather not waste my time ordering them and being disappointed.......experiences?

Default Steel rain caps

I saw the steel caps in a catalog and I plan to get those. The other option is a plastic type but they do not last long. The plastic gets dry & brittle and is in a vulnerable place. Washing the car a person puts their hand against the drip cap to support themselves while scrubbing with the other hand, a little pressure is applied, and snap crackle ....... it is broke. I have been through 4 sets of the plastic ones. I have another set of the plastic ones but never put them on because I knew they would not last. I think the steel ones are the way to go.

The OE 70-73's were polished stainless steel....if I'm not mistaken and 77-81 were anodized aluminum...

Which are the repops?

Are you sure on this? I have several sets and I believe they are all stainless. I don't even mess with the plastic ones. Those are junk. I also have a set off a '78 T-top car. I have never seen many of those.

I have a set from a late 70's car and they are indeed anodized aluminum. You can't miss that rainbow hue that the anodizing processes does. They also feel slightly lighter than the stainless versions.

Where I live....it rains....ALOT.

Likely 95% of the 2ndgen F-cars sold new in this area would have been ordered with roofdrips, even for dealer inventory.....Delay wipers (78-81) were also very popular.

I would say that 78-81's were anodized aluminum for SURE...

The early ones are Stainless which are the best in my opinion. I have them on a 76 and 78 Trans am. Fit very nice.

Was just looking at the re pops and they say made of stainless steel. I would think they would be just fine.
