Dash lights for 1971
this is in a 1971 sport Lemans Is there any secret to keep the dash lights working. I pulled the dash and replaced the bad bulbs and in less than 2 months some are not working again. do I need to use some conductive grease or sand contacts.

Maybe a bad connection with the bulb socket or the oil on your fingers got on the bulb and overheated the bulb.

if they are 194 bulbs, make sure the prongs are pulled apart before putting in
could be oils from your hands corossion bad circuitry etc... i relaced mine with some new 194 silverstars, slightly brigther then the standard 194, but not to brite had to pull 1/2 of them and pull the prongs apart further once i did that, perfect |

The plastic sockets often to not contact the printed circuit with enough tension. That or your printed circuit is bad.
I always test each socket with a bulb inside before I mount them, 1/2 the time they will not light and I find that I have to play around with the brass "tangs." The trick it to get those to touch the bulb's tiny wire twines with greater force.

"CAUTION: The retaining screws are part of the grounding circuit and must be installed to provide proper connections for the printed circuit" this was taken from 12-17 of my shop manual. im pretty sure i left off a screw or two from mine and have been having lighting issues since. i will be pulling the dash and fixing really soon
