that is usually not a problem, but you might want to make a phone call to the track to be sure.
there is a big heads-up and bracket race there on saturday that will not finish up until late. (clash of the titans) so you may have to park in the grass until the place clears out.

Just a quick note about rooms at the host hotel . . .

I just called and released five of the eight rooms I had reserved for Friday and Saturday nights.

I have no idea if the hotel was sold out or not, but if anyone is looking for a room, there should be some available now.

The rooms are at the PSN host hotel, The La Quinta @ San Anotnio Airport. (210) 342-3738. $89.00 / night.

All,
Looking forward to meeting everyone and watching some good racing. Have a safe trip.

The Clash of the Titans is a great show and it is highly recommended if you can make it. Come on out and root for punisher#1.

John,
I hope you are able to bring the Tempest. Sleep is over-rated...you have over 60 hours from now to get 'er done and get there. :-)

Jim

Dan brought your valve covers and fasteners by the shop yesterday, Walter. They're already boxed up in the back seat of my truck.

Don't forget - pick up a pair of VC gaskets.

I havent been on this board in a while. I went to the Clash race today. I left for a while to try to make the car show, but got there a little late. Everyone was already leaving. Maybe next time. I was at the clash taking pix and vid for our local tracks website. Punisher, Love your car. I got a couple of good shots of it.

As I said before. Next time im going with my car. If I would have found out sooner, I might have been able to make it. Been out of the Pontiac loop for a while now...Time to get back...

I think as many expected, not the Pontiac Southern Nationals of the past, but I big hand to everyone involved, pretty good job. Hope it continues and grows. And of coarse it was nice to see some old friends, and meet some new people.

A report from our camp.... John (Punisher#1) parked the Fairmont and drove my Trans Am to the semi finals. He broke out.. yes by a hair, and lost to our good friend Bob Davis in his '64 Tempest. I was surprised and thought the weather was going to have a bigger impact, my cars best time of the day was 10.63 at 127.05 mph, that was at mid-day.

Finally a side note, hats off to John, at the Clash of the Titans yesterday he went two rounds and ran a 8.20 at 173 mph. Good job my friend ! Yes, the worlds fastest Pontiac powerd Fairmont

Great bunch of folks... We did ok. Had made several changes to the car and was ironing a few things out. Was in the BC class ran a 9.801 at 137. a new best for me. Several asked what the car would do in good air. I said this is good compared to Midland Air.... Sure was Hot and humid, I think the air started around 3300 and was up to 4000 plus by finals. Got to meet a few new people from the PY board. Was busy with the car and didn't get to meet everyone. The car did good but I couldn't cut a light to save my life. One lane was about a tenth or so better then the other in the 330' area.
Kept things interesting. Thanks to all that came by, had fun.
John

Had a great time, met JKrull and several others here, both at the show and the drags.

I got a Silver award at the show, but my car is an absolute DOG at the track. I was darned near embarrased at how poorly it ran. Even with a 455, the combination of great traction, 3.31 gears, 2.20 low transmission and RA4 cam flat doesn't work, LOL!

Rob Anderson's GORGEOUS Polar White RA4 Judge won the Gold in my class. Congrats to Rob.

It was HOT, humid and windy, but a great event overall.

A huge thanks to DAPA, the PSN committee and all of the sponsors for hosting us.

Hoping that the DAPA folks will be planning a 2009 PSN.

I had a great time at PSN, too. Lloyd it was nice to FINALLY meet you in person. Actually, you and Larry. It's funny I had to drive 160 miles to finally meet the two of you. LOL The event was a good one. Met lots of new people and caught up with a few old friends.

I too got a silver in my class in the show on Saturday after getting there late and didn't do TOO bad racing Sunday. I missed out on the final by .0049 sec!!!! I had a blast, though. I still have lots of tuning to do....both the car and my driving skills. My best of the day was 12.47 @ 111 mph with a dismal 1.99 60ft time.

Drew

Hey Drew - it was nice to finally meet you as well.

You think a 1.99 60' is bad - HAH - my BEST was a 2.39, worst was a 2.50!!!!!

LOL! I've done 1.99 on STREET tires, so yes, the 1.99 with Nitto drag radials was not good.

My last time (and only second time) to the track times were in the 2.20 range with the same drag radials, but I was having trouble with my rear calipers not releasing.

Yeah!! It was great meeting up with everyone. Congrats to Lloyd & Drew with well deserved awards.
I hope there are plans for a '09 PSN. My vote would be to have the show and races at the track. There is plenty of real estate to accomodate show and race cars. I don't see lodging to be a problem either with the abundance of motels all along I-10.
Whaddaya think?

I was VERY impressed with your car JKrull66! I love those little cars! It was nice to talk to you about your project, but I don't think I ever introduced myself. I guess I was too busy gawking over your car. I was the guy wearing the cowboy hat and still got a sunburn...lol

Thanks, Larry!

You SHOULD have shown YOUR car - it's gorgeous.

Dunno 'bout having the show at the track, though. Don't get me wrong, SAR is one nice drag strip, but IMO not a great venue for a car show.
