I have a '69 in the same color family, but I like your shade better. The car is currently in pre-repaint mode and doesn't look like these pictures anymore. The car was painted badly long before I got it several years ago and it's Wild Strawberry Red Metallic, a FORD color and must be corrected. If I could find a similar color with no Ford connections....
Like Ferrari's "Rossa Fiorano Pearl"......

Very nice! Nothing like an original paint, low-mileage example!

Thanks 428HO, my friend was the original owner and always kept the car in a heated garage. He was fanatical about keeping the car clean and never took it out in the rain or snow. This car has absolutely no rust on it.

Hi Colin,

I just watched the slide-show of your project on picasaweb. Got a kind of slight heart attack when in the first third of the show your new repro hood was spotted with the 400-hood-emblem in the wrong direction but was relieved again when in the last third it has been mounted the correct way. LOL.
You went the stock route with a modern touch, I personally prefer the more-stock-the-better way. Nevertheless, I have to admit you really did a VERY fine restoration. Have to take my hat off to your skills and dedication. Way to go!

hey sixt8bird,
I went to town a few times and it gets a lot of attention as you can hear it before you see it ;-) gear dive and 2-1/2" exhaust sounds pretty wicked.

hey Tom-Brandl,
good eye to notice the 400's in the wrong direction (i didn't)

thanxs for the compliments guys
Colin

Here's my 69 400 with a fresh coat of '08 Mazda True Red. My car was yellow. Just needed a change. Car was painted two weeks ago. I'm still puting it together. fyi - the yellow reflection in the paint and glass are from the shop's skylight.
