Default speedo drive gear question

when installing nylon spedo driven gear into turbo 400 housing is there a stud that mates to end of nylon gear inside the trans, or is it heid in place strictly by the housing ?

There is a little metal clip that is "wedged" in place between the gear and the shaft that locks the whole deal in the correct "location" on the shaft.

There is a corresponding "hole" in the output shaft for the clip to locate on.

If I can find a spare one later,I'll post a pic so you can see what I mean.

Despite the hollow support shaft on the trans-side of the driven gear, I don't think so.

Just figure it was a design-to-cost issue on the Trans-case machining. Interesting to inspect a 1965 case to see if it had such a support.

The big header on your post asked about the "drive" gear, and the text of your post your asking about the "driven" gear, which one are we talking 'bout here???

Makes quite a bit of difference...

Jeesh,ya'll make me feel like a fool sometimes with that kinda non-sense!
