when installing nylon spedo driven gear into turbo 400 housing is there a stud that mates to end of nylon gear inside the trans, or is it heid in place strictly by the housing ?

There is a little metal clip that is "wedged" in place between the gear and the shaft that locks the whole deal in the correct "location" on the shaft.
There is a corresponding "hole" in the output shaft for the clip to locate on. If I can find a spare one later,I'll post a pic so you can see what I mean. |

Despite the hollow support shaft on the trans-side of the driven gear, I don't think so.
Just figure it was a design-to-cost issue on the Trans-case machining. Interesting to inspect a 1965 case to see if it had such a support. |

The big header on your post asked about the "drive" gear,and the text of your post your asking about the "driven" gear,which one are we talking 'bout here???
