The 71 HO carbs are not only lacking the outer rings they are completely different castings. The single booster will extend nearly to the bottom of the main casting. On the other models the inner booster only extends a short distance into the casting. Removing the outer booster ring on std carbs requires completely different calibration specs than even the 71 HO carbs used......Cliff

These carbs were considered inefficient at low engine rpm´s so Pontiac went back to the earlier design year after.

a few more questions. would a service replacement carburetor not have the two letter plant code on it? also what is the value of a 7041267 service replacement carb that was made by Carter?

As a general rule, service replacement carburetors did NOT have the plant code. A service replacement 7041267 made by Carter is a 1 of none! According to Carter records, Carter made zero HO or RA Pontiac Q-Jets following the 1967 model year. Jon.
