Rear Bumper Guards
Trying to find something official about when Pontiac made the rear bumper guards optional on Firebirds. IIRC, it may have been May of 1971, but not positive.
Anyone have any paperwork, letters or something official on this? |

Both the Sept. 29th, 1970 and Jan. 4th, 1971 Accessorizers list the 734 (V32) as a $15.80 option.
Assembly drawing is dated 06-09-70, released 06-23-70. The group index 35V was dated 10-23-70.

These were a OTC item and dealer installed as well. I suspect these were ordered for some customers, unsure if a Kit though, as we sold a few pairs of the rubbers separately.I would say these were available OTC in the 71 model year, maybe late.. I Installed a few pairs of rubbers..

I have looked at reproducing these in small run quantities, but have been hesitant because I am not sure there is much of a market for them. Small runs would mean they would by necessity be costly to make and sell. My guess is a set might run $200 to $250 for 2. Anybody think that would sell?
Thanks, James |
