I'm going to upgrade my 69 400 motor a bit, and the most cost effective way (short of a completely new engine) is put on a top end kit. After doing the math for compression ratios at Wallace Racing's site, it looks like a 62cc or 65cc Edelbrock (or other maker) Fast Burning or similar chamber heads is what I need.
Currently I have a rebuilt 400, .030 over (406) with #62 Pontiac cast iron heads, with a 72/75cc combustion chamber.
The pistons are dual valve relief Kieth Black with 17 cc relief.
If I get 62 or 65cc heads, I can get my compression ratio raised to around 10.13-10.37 to 1. With the heads, cam, other parts in an Edelbrock top end kit, that should get me somewhere in the range of 425-440hp.
So I'm looking for a pair of Edelbrock 61549-2 62cc aluminum heads. Let me know what's available, ok?
