opinions on 66 console fit
It's been a few years since I installed a console in a 66, but I seem to remember them fitting better than this. This car is a factory console car, with the front OEM bracket still bolted to the floor, the car has had the front half of a 1 piece floor installed, rockers are original. The shifter porch is a round hole GM, but not sure if it's a Pontiac piece or not. There's almost an inch gap at the front / side mounting hole in the plastic base, making the original screws too short, and the round shifter hole is a little offset from the cup. Any ideas?

I installed the shifter today and it was centered in the cup, no issues there, I did have to move the front console bracket back about a 1/4 inch, everything looks good now.

Did you finish the console install? I’d like to see how it turned out.
I’m going to be putting one in my car soon. I was wondering if you had to do any mods to the cup for the shifter to fit. I have a Hurst comp plus and Ames told me I may have to trim it but they were vague about how. Thanks |
