64 Pontiac display Pic - too cool
This has absolutely nothing to do with anything...
...but it was just too cool to pass up. My guess is that this is the Chicago Auto Show display for the 1964 models.

I have heard the word but what is a Donk car?

Donk:
I believe the term comes from the fact that a Chevy Impala was a popular vehicle for this, and the animal in the Impala emblem kind of looks like a donkey...

This is how I used to roll , my friend Gary and I just taking a break from breaking in a couple of new engines in 1982? Man we were a couple of knuckel heads looking for trouble 24/7.

Photo 1. It certainly is cool Ollie. How many times did we get to see pictures of an auto show back then? I don't remember seeing many from the 60s, and not this one either Keith. Road and Track had some auto show photos but not many, but they were mostly the foreign breeds.
Photo 2. Now that 66 Goat sure looks jacked up more than normal. LOL Never saw any that looked like that up in my old neck of the woods. We did jack up the rear with airshocks but never the front. Make you think of the cars that ended up with 4 wheel drive under them. Thanks for the memories.

The second photo need 4-wheel drive. LOL I think that people would use ball joint spacers to do that. PS it is a 67.

From the Chicago Auto Show site (history): The stage revue was still a part of the 56th Chicago Auto Show, during which The Chicago Automobile Trade Association celebrated its 60th anniversary. The 50-strong cast of "Motorevue of 1964," brought familiar auto ads to life. Performance was a dominant theme for the 1964 event, with Pontiac's Tempest GTO and Ford's Mustang II concept commanding attention. The Mustang II concept evolved into the Mustang, launched in late spring of the same year. After trying out its turbine engine in a nearly-stock Dodge and Plymouth, Chrysler creaed 50 specially-bodied Turbine cars. Though experimental in nature, they were driven for about three months each by 203 "consumer representatives." A number of Chrysler engineers were on hand at the 1964 show to answer questions about these innovative cars.

How about Pontiacs captured in their natural habitat?
Find the Ponchos in these vintage street scenes:

Keith -
More neat pics. Whoda thunk to take pics of street scenes? My guess is that a couple are of the gas lines during the 70's gas crisis, probably for newspaper articles. cm

Of interest, too, is the Indian statue "welcoming" in the showroom.

Once I started looking, I just couldn't believe how prevalent the Pontiacs were in these pics. They used to be "just cars"; now they are "time machines".
