Cool Letting go

I know....not a Pontiac, but this is the lobby and casual conversation. Tonight I will let Mr. NEW-SKOL go. I finally found my dream car, 1978 Bandit car, so something had to go. This Challenger has 6200 miles on it. It’s a 2009, never seen rain or even a hose. Still smells new. So much fun to drive when I drove it but it’s time to let someone else drive the tires off of it. So it’s going back to the dealership, Rothrock Dodge in Allentown PA, in a buy it back program. One last ride up there tonight. A little sad, but need to get BURT on the road. I had to sell my 75 TA when diagnosed with Leukemia in 2011. Now that I’m better, I found this sexy beast. Many thanks to the seller John Kraft, awesome person to deal with if you’re looking for a TA.

That's kind of sad MaryAnn... but one of those Challengers can cost big bucks to keep up, or just repair. Besides that, they can get you in all kinds of trouble when you least expect it. Yeah they go fast but to me they're not as much fun as the classics..... at least you can work on them at home.

Enjoy that last ride in the Challenger up to Allentown..... but I know you'll enjoy the ride in the TA much more.

I got stopped by a State Trooper when I first got it. I was going into Target parking lot, he was coming out. I look in my mirror and he’s doing a U turn behind me, follows me to my parking spot. Walks up and says. “Good afternoon ma’am “ I say the same and ask what I did. He walks around the car, then says, “nothing and just make sure you don’t Cars like this are a violation just waiting to happen” I’m like, “officer I’m 20 years your senior, and have never had a traffic violation ever!” He said, “enjoy your ride, but just know you’re a target on our radar “ geeeeeeeeze really? good thing he didn’t see that burnout, even though it was in a safe place.

It would have taken me less than a second to make that decision. And I'm not a big fan of "Bandit" cars....

It’s a really cool car, in my opinion the best design of the re makes. But time to get into another true classic.

Well as most here know me, I tend to get very attached to my cool cars. My everyday car I could let that go in half a second. Lol

I love the Bandit cars, Good choice! I did a few new car preps on those back in the day.

It’s a 78, not a “real Bandit” but the 77 was out of my price range, so it’s my kinda Bandit lol.

I understand getting attached to "cool cars". The '49 Caddy has been in the family since 1958, my '64 GTO was purchased in 1992 and my wife's '72 Camaro was acquired in 2000.

None of them are going anywhere soon.

Ha ha Jeff my luck I’d get stopped for sure. Hell I got stopped and wasn’t even going 10 mph. Lolol. I’m actually gonna take my time and savor every last minute. I think they already have a buyer, 3 of them messaged me today to make sure I’m coming and didn’t change my mind. They have no low mileage ones on the lot. They have a Demon and I just have to see that angry beast.

Good Decision. Sometimes tough to let one go, but now you got a Black Trans Am.

Have Fun!

WoW , that R/T is a sweet machine.
I didn't know that you had that model.

Did you have another more base-model type Challenger previously before the R/T ?

You and Burt make a perfect pair.

Nope that’s the only one I ever had, and turns out still have, because we drove it there and they told me one thing on the phone, and tried to give me $$2000.00 less when push came to shove. Just put 90 more miles going up and back, for nothing.

Well lets try to be subjective
I'm sure they see 6600 mile collector-kept/garage imprisoned 2009 R/T's all the time.
Yours just wasn't "quite there" enough, maybe.

Did the driver floor mat have a little dust on it maybe ?
Some dust on the foot pedals too perhaps ?

ppffffffffffffftttttttttt
what a classy group of coyotes.

They'll be calling you more again tomorrow.
Tell'em they have to come to you for the car if they still want it.
(and they do)
It'll be over 6700 if you go again and you can't risk anymore of their deductions or depreciation.
It could get a $3000 rock-chip.

What is the number on the Car ?
I'm sure you are giving them room on it.

Just a bit OT but kinda related to MaryAnn's run in with the cop.

A friend and his wife from here in DE went out to Rhode Island this past week for on a business trip. On the way back in Connecticut he was stopped by a CT State Trooper. Yeah they are no fun at all. My friend was over the speed limit and passed the cop who was also running over the speed limit with no lights on. The cop pulled him over of course and came around to the passengers side, asked for the usual info and papers and asked if he knew why he was stopped. He said No sir I don't. The cop explained he was speeding and as he did so he looked and saw the dash cam hanging from the windshield mirror on the CVT Caddy. The cop only gave him a verbal warning and said have a good day. Now that is something that I'd say doesn't happen too often in Connecticut.

Maybe this dash cam scared a State cop? Kinda sounds like it, but maybe the cop had his quota filled for the month. Or maybe he smelled the lobsters they had for me and took pity on them. LOL

No the appraiser said the girl who told me a number if the car was what I said it was, and it was deemed everything and more than what I said it was according to him, wasn’t there, and he told me she was new and mis spoke. He also had to do that whole step out thing and ask his Manager, came back 15 minutes later with a $2000.00 less offer. So we put 90 miles up and back per car times two. There wasn’t a fuzz on my carpets. Lol. So I already have two other dealerships interested. This car will be gone by the weekend. And that girl who spoke out of line? Hate to be her tomorrow lol.
