Maybe experts was a poor choice of words. Looking for input from folks who know more about these cars than I do...

If you cant find the experts here you aint going to find em. A member here named Greg should pipe in since he lives in that big @ss state and owns two of these cars.

Don't worry DHutton, they will come. I can say the engine paint looks like original wear and color for an unrestored car, but I thought the oil fill cap was on the valve cover when the valve covers were painted. This one looks cleaned or replaced.

Were May '70 JW's correct for '72?
The front bumper looks like it was repainted. The nose bird is a lesser reproduction. A lot of very nice bits in their unmolested condition on this one, like the ribbed AC hoses, rear AC bracket and dip stick bracket.... dash bezel.... Notice the trunk spatter... on the trunk latch mechanism... that is correct. Oh, and a very nice cowl to hood seal. I know someone who would buy the car just to harvest that part! I'm with Norwood on this one... sweet!

Looks like a nice car. Still has its original 72 fenders, too. Only small stuff like the incorrect master cylinder and rad cap come to mind. It appears to have all the correct A/C hoses, clamps and paraphernalia. Need to see some under shaker photos - can't see the distributor. It's supposed to have a unitized distributor per the repro window sticker.

Looks fairly solid & original. Don't buy the 5/8 JW being original, no more than its valvestem. It may be the only one though. Car has a metal valance, but many an original owner tore the plastic one up

I am not sure that I could keep a survivor like that in its survivor state. I would want to fix the paint and interior etc. Thanks, Don |

El Paso is a high desert climate, so that's usually a big plus for the metal assuming the car spent a lot of time there.
If the original KR's were swapped out, I'd say May JW's would be the good kind of incorrect

'72s had metal valences as well, that fit the one piece light capsule. was used on cars with the "clear" lense capsule.( this dates to nov-Dec of 1971 ) I know a guy who bought a couple NOS steel valences and was wondering why they dont fit the older style 2 piece light assemblies. yeah GM used same part number too..
