1967 400 in a 1975 trans am?
Putting a 1967 400 motor in a 75 t/a . I have the motor mount adaptors, but the engine does not want to settle in low enough to get the bolt through. Am using the 75 t/a steel mount bolted on the adaptor. is this correct ?or do I need gto engine mounts. ? a real PITA.

Depends on who's adapters you have?
If you had the BPI-F10774 from the link HFR showed, it would not need any engine mounts? (it appears to be the engine mount and adapter) If it's like the WRP-MM6 in the link, you need the engine mount for the year of the frame mount?

the engine mount and frame mount are from that engine 1975. Only thing added to the mix was the adaptor to bolt the engine mount to the engine. Basically a straight piece of steel with two holes in it to mount to the engine and two nuts on the backside for the mount.

The straight bar type of adapters I always thought would be hard to get them to seat good on the mounts.
They change the angle of the engine mount because they space them away from the block. (at least from the ones I saw) Might need some persuasion or possibly elongating the holes? The adapters HFR talked of would be better suited to working right, I think. (but doesn't help much since you have some already)

Hate to say it..but I am pretty sure they don't make those anymore. I am trying to shoe-horn a pre-70's block in to a 2nd gen as well. I'll try and post a pic of the mounts I am using. |

See if you can talk to Ames then and trade your FN619A's for the FN621B's.
I can't comment on the Butler website, but websites should be updated when stuff is obsoleted. |

Maybe I'm mistaken - but I swear I tried to order those a couple of years ago and they said they aren't produced anymore.

It was probably back when Indian Adventures was making them and went out of business.
I found this thread and wonder if improvements were ever made... http://www.forums.maxperformanceinc....d.php?t=505192 PY sells these, RFE139, $105... Last edited by Held for Ransom; 06-22-2013 at 10:00 AM. |

thanks for the replies everyone. I think we need to consider building another block. the original 1975 400 engine that came out of the car was the weaker version of the two offered that year.
