Pontiac Cam Position Sensor for Sequential EFI
I see that MSD is making a Cam Sync Plug if you want to run coil on plug or a sequential EFI system, but nothing for Pontiac. (As usual)
https://www.msdperformance.com/produ...nc/parts/85141 Could one of these be modified for a Pontiac? I don't know much about EFI, but I've always thought that a cam position sensor would be easy for a Pontiac by mounting the sensor in place of the fuel pump eccentric on the camshaft and bolting the pickup where the fuel pump goes. I think this would be a more versatile setup since you could still run the distributor for spark timing if you wanted and have cam timing for the EFI. ....or is there already something out there that does this that I don't know about?

I have a BOP oil pump plug, which could have the top modified similar to that. I wonder if MSD would sell the top part of that cam sync as a spare part. And I wonder if it could be fitted to the BOP part.
I have pics of the BOP part in my build thread (link in my sig) |

Lower collar is two piece. Don't see why it couldn't be lowered. And swapping the distributor gear is also straightforward. Taller than necessary, but it could get the ball rolling??

I think most people simply put a toothed ring on the harmonic balancer.
