The Trans Am and Y99 suspension option used a variable ratio 13:1-16:1 steering box. WS6 suspension came out in 1978 and used a 14:1 fixed ratio steering box. The ultimate steering box would be the 1980's 12.7:1 steering box used in 3rd-gen F-bodies and some higher level G-bodies.
