'67 GTO 7033616 base plate
I need 3 good Rochester Quadrajet base plates to complete (2) 7027262's and (1) 7027263. I have stuff to trade or will pay top dollar. Casting number=7033616

Do you have any 7027262 carbs for sale?

I hope to eventually, but no complete carb at this time...I like to sell carbs as concours 'semi restored' (whereby buyer needs to assemble it himself since I don't trust my building abilities on such a crucial piece of the engine). I recommend Cliff Ruggles for the actual build to get every ounce of performance out of it. There are several other pro builders on this forum who do fantastic work too. Or the buyer can simply do it himself with the aid of Cliff's book. I'm knowledgeable on factory colorization and numbers matching the correct components to '67-'70 Pontiac high performance models but that's as far as my expertise goes. My hobby is putting these old relics back together just as they came from the factory.
In my stash of parts there's an original 7027262 main bowl (Rochester brand) with date code D7 just aching to get back into service but the correct base plate for it (7033616) has pitting on bottom where it mates to the intake manifold. Not sure if the gasket would seal out any imperfections or not. Maybe a pro builder can chime in on this issue. My other problem is that the original air horn was missing. The only Rochester air horn I have for it at this time (with correct casting #7033604) came off a 1971 service replacement (703)7262 which has a slightly different 'look' to it. Appearance wise, looks to be a combination between the '68 and the '67 air horn styles. I believe the 703's were used on California A.I.R. (smog pump) models as well as S/R's. Numbers correct but not exactly numbers matching since an expert can visually spot the difference. I do happen to have an original production Rochester air horn (with same casting number 7033604) which I could possibly use, but prefer to save that one for the 7027263 main bowl it originally came on if I can ever find a decent base plate for the stick shift carb. I also have 2 really nice original '67 Carter air horns (7033604) but no Carter main bowls to put them onto. You can see my dilemma. Hence this ad for parts. I figure if the buyer is going to shell out big bucks for an original carb they should get a 'complete all numbers matching' real deal for their hard earned money. |
