Default Bought a 2014 Ram 1500

Man I dig this truck. Towing capacity of 10,500 although I don't think I would want to try to tow that much. I traded my very low mile 2006 Jeep TJ on it and so far impressed with the mileage. I drive 70 miles round trip to work with the evenings very stop and go. I also do some around town driving and I am averaging 20 MPG. Not bad for 395 horse v8. I drove a few other trucks but nothing else seemed as nice as the Dodge for the money. Anyone else have a Dodge 1500 for a while, pros and cons?

i've had a 2006 that I totaled on black ice, a 2005 rumble bee that I traded for a 2010, and I traded it for my 2014 ecodiesel. i really can't complain much about any of them.

2015 Ram here. Wanted 4 regular sized doors, 6'5" bed (most offer 6'5" with small back door or 5"5" with 4 regular sized doors). Love the HP and torque of the engine with 8 speed auto (3.91 rear for towing). Recently took family with loaded bed to Myrtle Beach and averaged (around town and highway combined) 22mpg. Only have 10k miles on it as I have other vehicles. Seems like the mileage got better after the first 7500 miles or so. I also recently (before Myrtle beach trip) added a hard folding bed cover which at least 1 or 2 mpg I would estimate.
Towed the trailer I bought from fellow PY'er to Norwalk last year and you hardly realized it was back there.
Enjoy and good luck with your truck.

Thinking of an eco diesel for my next truck. What kind of mileage are they getting?

Got a 2014 RAM 1500 Hemi Lone Star a few months ago. Great truck , pulls well and the 8 speed is awesome even with 3.21 rear. I got the big four door cab with short 5.5 bed, tons of room inside. Surprisingly quick too, my first 1/8 mile attempt it actually hooked in low gear and ran a 9.21 ! 25 mpg when cruising to work at 55-60 mph too !

i get 21-22 around town and have gotten 30 on the highway, but usually average 27-28 since they raised the speed limit to 70. 68 mph seems to be the limit for good highway mpg. i get about 6 mpg better with the eco diesel than I did with the hemi, town/highway/and towing.

I'm looking for a new truck. The Silverado is getting a few too many miles on it(especially if the wife's new job is in Washington State). My BIL had a short bed '14 that blew its engine (overreving I suspect). I'm definitely going to look at Dodge based on what I've been reading.

A friend has a 2014 with the quad cab and a 4.7 V8. I was skeptical, but it really rides well, gets over 22 and has 4 psi indicators for all the tires.. NO Hemi, and he doesnt tow..
That said, my father traded in his '05 Sierra 4x4 with a 5.3 LS engine, 160K on it. He bought the Identical truck Brand New except it has a LS V-6 engine in it that puts out the same HP and Tq as his 5.3 had. ( 2 years ago GM made a 4.3 Ls engine and started putting it in trucks) It shifts a bunch when towing, but its Very peppy and economy.. yup its in the 25 mpg range. has 20K so far and no issues..

I have a 2013 1500 Laramie Longhorn that i bought new, just turned 50k. My wife tows her 2 horse trailer and I use it to tow my GTO. Great truck, we love it. It has been as reliable as an anvil.

Attached is a pic of when I picked it up at the dealership.

Enjoy yours, they are great trucks.

Drive a '16-'17 8 speed 6.2 GM truck, and your opinion of the RAM will falter. 22 MPG and 420 HP in an ultra quiet, nice riding truck is best of all worlds.

I looked at RAMS when I bought my GMC. While the HEMI ran well, the rest of the truck left me unimpressed.

As for cons, MOPAR thought it was prudent to put regular spark plugs in the HEMI, and 16 at that.

Thanks for the review guys. So far like the truck alot. Very quite, very smooth comfortable ride. I think the Uconnect is very well thought out and works well. I don't have a loaded model, but it has backup cam which the way it is pointed off the tailgate handle makes hitching a trailer the easiest I have ever done. The integrated electric brake controller is awesome. I have the 3.92 gears and this thing is a beast. I have the shorter back crew cab doors but have the 6.5 bed, since my kids are grown and moved out I don't have to worry about legroom so I went with the longer bed. I drove some Chevies and Fords, but this felt like the best truck, especially for the money.

I bought a 2015 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 Outdoorsman last year and it has been a great truck. With the 5.7 Hemi(395 hp) 8 speed trans and 3.92 rear it runs strong.I looked at the Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 which had the 5.3 V8 (355hp) and 6 speed 3.55 rear it was a nice truck but lacked the performance of the Ram.Sure you could get the 6.2 V8 and 8 speed but that was a $2500 option. The Ram I thought was the best bang for the buck too me and I preferred the Ram interior.
