I have been buying these shoes for years and this is what I was told, the lighter the color of the lining, the softer the compound.

If you find some NORS shoes with light colored linings, buy them.
You need 260 and 272.
As for the color of the linings, I once used dark lined shoes on my 65 2+2 and it stopped fine.
I have fixed a few cars that wouldn't stop by using a set NOS Delco shoes on the front. The 1st one that it happened top me was my 65 Bonneville in 1999.
My friend had a 60 Bonneville Safari that would not stop. I had it on the lift in Drive with someone stepping on the brake pedal as hard as they could and the rear wheels kept turning.
