Here are some pics of my reproduction steering wheel I bought from
Ames after I applied several coats of Minwax Polyshades American Walnut
stain/urethane I bought from Home Depot. I used 0000 steel wool to prep the
wheel for the urethane /stain mixture, then applied the mixture to the wheel with
an artist's paint brush, let it dry for 7 days then lightly 0000 steel wooled the rim again and installed it on the car. I think it looks better than my original wheel
ever did(I've owned my car since it was two years old). The rim of the ames wheel looked terrible before I refinished it....way too light and way too yellow in shade,
also not shiny enough. Please note that the horn cap on my car is my original one, not the repro which has the incorrect
grain on the black hub and a bezel that has the chrome ring which is silver and not shiny chrome like the originals.
