Thanks! The car will stay non-console just like it was built.
After thinking it thru and listening to the various opinions here, pretty much everything on the car will stay as it's supposed to be.
I'll probably put in a different radio (the original doesn't work anyway) but only something that bolts in with no cutting or modification.
