East Penn / NAPA / Duracell, (all made by East Penn) gets my vote for batteries that sit for long periods. I currently have Exide / Rural King, in one of my trucks that suck when they sit. Chinese A/C Delco / Menard's, seem to be okay, but they are less than a year old. The Walmart / Johnson controls, is about 2 years old, and have held up fine.
East Penn has always had good, reliable, car batteries, and is my favorite in my own cars. Batteries Plus, sells Dura Cell with 10% off if you buy online, and pickup at the local store. Sams Club also sells Dura Cell at their stores for even less.
I would never invest in an Optima, they're durability has nosedived since they offshored their production, but the price has stayed much too high. Another American company that sold their soul for cheap labor, and corporate profits.
