iirc nuts on studs was only for clutch fans (a/c cars) - and those used no spacer;
The spacer was used on fixed (four blade) or flex (five blade) fans.
another vote here for black oxide;
they are a fine thread unlike the coarse threads used almost everywhere eles;
you might be best off finding good bolts (be it used or repop) and hitting them with some flat or semi gloss black.
