When I did my welting years ago, I drilled very small holes at the ends of the welting and install a staple to secure the welting like the factory did. I also purchased a paint-able two part epoxy for plastic and used it to secure the welting to the flare. It has been over 10 years and still is like the day I installed it. If you interested I'll post a few pics and the product I used.
