Here are three pics of the silver prototype, two in the Pontiac Engineering Garage and one with some guy named Jerry Titus.
Not the best pics but maybe some haven't seen them.
It looks like the third pic has hood pins.
Were there holes in the stock core support about where they would mount?
Maybe another clue?
