if you take the gear selector plate off the top...

if you take the gear selector plate off the top of the console, there is a philips head screw on the right side of the shift mechanism that allows you to adjust the nss engagement point.

make friends with someone who is young enough to crawl underneath and let them put eyes on the motor. i wouldn't pull an engine to fix an oil pan gasket.

assembly manual shows oval side toward frame and round to axle housing. says bolt direction is optional but preferred is bolt head to inside and nut to outside closest to wheel.
